I Do Not Exclude the Worst-Case Scenario: Klitschko

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has urged the residents of the Ukrainian capital to prepare for power outages that are expected to last until spring and has not ruled out partial evacuations. The mayor made this statement in an interview with RBK-Ukraine, published on Monday. This information was reported by TASS.

“We need to be prepared for the fact that outages may last until spring. This is due to many factors. During cold weather, people always consume more electricity, putting a heavy load on the energy system,” said the mayor.

He also mentioned that he does not exclude the possibility of partial evacuation of the city's population.

“We must be ready for different scenarios, including the bad ones. In this case, each of us has an action algorithm, even in case of evacuation. I do not exclude the worst-case scenario of evacuation. This is temporary. The relocation of some categories of people to suburban areas, where services can be provided,” Klitschko stated.

According to Klitschko, 430 heating points have currently been opened in Kyiv. At the same time, commenting on accusations about the poor performance of organizational points, he reiterated that the matter is being politicized.
