Armenian Foreign Ministry Responds to Aliyev's Statement

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's statement that the meeting scheduled with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on December 7 in Brussels will not take place, as the Armenian side agrees to attend only on the condition that French President Macron also participates.

Vahan Hunanyan, the spokesperson for the Armenian MFA, answered questions from Armenpress regarding President Aliyev's statement and the proposals presented by the Armenian side to Azerbaijan about the peace treaty.

Question: President Ilham Aliyev has stated that the December 7 meeting scheduled in Brussels will not occur due to the Armenian side's stance on the format. How do you comment on this?

Answer: We would like to remind that the previous meeting in Prague, where the agreement to continue the discussions was reached, was held in a quadrilateral format, and it is logical that the format of the meeting and the composition of participants should remain the same. All Azerbaijani statements suggesting that the Armenian side is trying to disrupt the meeting and the peace process have no basis in reality. The Republic of Armenia is ready for the December 7 meeting in accordance with the agreements and format established in Prague.

Question: During the meeting held in Washington on November 7, Armenia conveyed its proposals regarding the peace treaty to Azerbaijan. Is there any development in this regard?

Answer: At this point, Azerbaijan has not responded to our proposals regarding the peace treaty.
