Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has sharply responded to the remarks of a Latvian MP who claimed that the Russian nation does not exist. "Ask this Nazi monster if there is an American?" Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

Earlier, Latvian Saeima member Aleksandrs Kiršteins announced that the Russian nation does not exist. He expressed this opinion on his Twitter microblog.

The politician contended that the Russian language emerged when "the Mongol-Tatars attempted to speak Ukrainian."
