Ukrainian Forces Shell Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Area
Russia's Ministry of Defense has reported that today Ukrainian forces have shelled the area of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant twice.
It was noted that on November 19, Ukrainian artillery fired 11 large-caliber shells in the vicinity of the nuclear power plant.
"Thus, from 9:15 to 9:45 AM, 12 large-caliber artillery shells were fired. Eight of them exploded between the fifth energy block and building No. 2, three struck the area between the fourth and fifth energy blocks, and one hit the roof of building No. 2," the report stated.
At 10:00 AM, two more shells were fired along the power supply line of the plant.
The extent of damage caused by the shelling will be assessed after an inspection of the plant's area by IAEA and Rosatom experts.
It has been reported that the radiation situation in the area of the nuclear power plant is normal.
IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi has urged an immediate cessation of the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
