Armenian Foreign Ministry on the Tragedy in Seoul
There are currently no reports of Armenian citizens among those affected by the tragedy that occurred during the crowd surge in the neighborhood of Itaewon in the South Korean capital, Seoul. This was announced by the spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Minister, Vahan Hunanian.
“As of now, based on the available information, there are no injured Armenian citizens,” Hunanian stated.
It is worth noting that the crowd surge, which took place during Halloween celebrations, resulted in at least 153 fatalities, with an additional 103 people injured and around 350 reported missing. According to the latest reports, among the deceased are 22 foreign nationals, including four young women from Russia (ages 20-30), and citizens of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The numbers are not final and are subject to periodic updates.
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has declared national mourning through November 5.
