The ticket prices for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar are reported to be the most expensive in the history of the tournament over the past 20 years. This is according to Reuters, citing research findings.
Fans attending the matches in Qatar will pay nearly 40% more for tickets compared to those who watched the 2018 games in Russia. The study indicates that the average price for a final match ticket is $812, which is 59% higher than the cost of tickets for the final match in Russia.
While fans in Russia paid an average of $254 per seat, tickets for matches in Qatar are priced at an average of $340. “The World Cup set to kick off in Qatar is already considered the most expensive World Cup to date. The construction of six new stadiums and the complete renovation of two others has cost nearly $3 billion,” the research states.
