Daily Messages of Loyalty
The newspaper "Zhoghavorud" writes that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is increasingly solidifying the belief that no authority in Armenia has ever been as subservient to Russia as his government. He regularly sends messages of loyalty to Russian President Vladimir Putin, asserting that he will not deviate even a millimeter from the line dictated by official Moscow.
Evidence of this was presented yesterday, on November 16, when he stated in parliament that his cabinet had long accepted the Russian proposals related to what he terms the "peace treaty" as early as January 2021.
Furthermore, attempting to stir conflict between opposition leaders and the president of the Russian Federation, he raised the issue of what the opposition thinks about these proposals and whether they oppose them.
Pashinyan's manner of operation and speeches of this nature are not new; however, the novelty lies in the fact that even the most pronounced "pro-Westerners" within his team, including those who have received various grants in the past, are seemingly now expressing loyalty to Russia—often in a positive light—at the directive of their political leader.
In a conversation with the "Zhoghavorud" newspaper, some members of the ruling party candidly expressed that especially after the recent military escalation by Azerbaijan on September 13, when questions began to arise about the whereabouts of their security guarantor, they received internal instructions to lower the tone of their claims and discourse, moving to a completely different—friendly and allied—platform.
Now, in fact, the authorities, represented by Prime Minister Pashinyan, have taken on the obligation to express loyalty to the President of the Russian Federation on a daily basis.
