Yerevan to Sign Iranian 'Persian Gulf-Black Sea' Project

Armenia is ready to ratify the agreement on launching the international transport corridor 'Persian Gulf-Black Sea' in accordance with the laws of the Republic. Currently, project participants are waiting for Iran, the author of this initiative, to announce the date for signing the agreement. This was stated in response to a written inquiry from Sputnik Armenia by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia.

The 'Persian Gulf-Black Sea' transport corridor project envisions an uninterrupted route connecting Delhi and Tehran with Europe through Yerevan and Tbilisi, utilizing multimodal transportation. The idea of this corridor was first voiced by Iran in 2016, and Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Greece have since joined the initiative. During this period, six meetings of working groups have been held (twice in Iran and Bulgaria, and once in Georgia and Armenia).

The ministry reminded that the last meeting of the delegations from the project participant countries, particularly from Armenia, Iran, and Bulgaria, took place on April 6-7, 2022, in Sofia during the sixth session of the project’s coordination expert group.
