Ukrainian Embassy Addresses Allegations of Supplying White Phosphorus Munitions to Baku
Russian propaganda is once again attempting to circulate an old falsehood in Armenian media about Ukraine allegedly supplying phosphorus munitions to Azerbaijan during the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War. This statement has appeared on the website of the Ukrainian Embassy in Armenia.
The embassy referenced a statement made by President Volodymyr Zelensky in 2020, in which the leader emphasized that "Ukraine has never supplied phosphorus bombs anywhere."
"Another Russian fake, as in the past, aims to sow mistrust and doubt between Ukraine and Armenia, between the peoples of the two states. This is Russia's approach, which started an unprovoked aggression against Ukraine in 2014, which escalated into a criminal large-scale war against the Ukrainian state on February 24 of this year," the embassy reported, adding, "However, Ukraine was and remains open to the development of relations with Armenia and mutually beneficial cooperation."
It is worth recalling that Robert Menendez, the chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, stated that Kiev supplied white phosphorus munitions to Baku, which were used during the 2020 war in Nagorno-Karabakh. During hearings in the committee regarding the banned munitions' use by Azerbaijani armed forces, he noted that they were supplied by Ukraine.
