How Many Cargo Trucks with Armenian Loads Are Currently at the Upper Lars Border Point? Minister Responds
Currently, 1600 trucks loaded with Armenian cargo are situated in Georgia at the Upper Lars border point. This was announced today during a press briefing by the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan.
“This is the situation following the explosion at the Crimea bridge, as vehicle inspections have been tightened at the Russian-Georgian border,” he stated.
According to Kerobyan, some trucks have been waiting in line for over ten days. The minister assured that continuous communication is maintained with Russian counterparts on a daily basis, and several mechanisms are under discussion to resolve the issue quickly.
“We face issues with perishable goods; some Armenian producers have incurred losses, mainly those involved in dairy products and fresh agricultural goods,” the minister mentioned.
It is worth noting that the tightening of controls by Russian authorities at the Upper Lars border point after the explosion at the Crimea bridge has led to new multi-kilometer queues, as relevant services are inspecting vehicles much more thoroughly and for longer periods.
Additionally, this route is the only land connection between Armenia and Russia.
