Entry of Foreigners with Unpaid Fines into Georgia to Be Prohibited
Foreign vehicle owners who do not pay their fines will be prohibited from entering Georgia the next time, reports Sputnik Georgia. It is noted that the Georgian Parliament is discussing amendments regarding fines for violating traffic rules by vehicles with foreign license plates.
According to the amendments, a violator will be considered notified 30 days after the violation is published on the Ministry of Internal Affairs' website. If the fine is not paid within 30 days, penalties will be added to the fine.
"This legislative provision aims to collect fines imposed for violations recorded by cameras from drivers of vehicles with foreign license plates," stated Alexander Darakhvelidze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Moreover, foreign vehicle owners who fail to pay their fines will be prohibited from entering Georgia the next time.
It is highlighted that 'smart' cameras have recorded 1,441,576 violations in six months, amounting to a total of 66.2 million lari.
