VIDEO: I am not satisfied with the negotiations, neither are Pashinyan, Aliyev, Macron, or Putin: Aghazaryan
The opposition had launched a struggle to remove the government and come to power, but they noticed that they lacked support among the wider society, and thus they abandoned that scenario and returned to parliament. This was stated by MP Hovik Aghazaryan from the Civil Contract party during a conversation with journalists regarding the opposition's decision to return to parliament.
"The classic cooperation between the opposition and the government consists of contradictions and struggles. The opposition is an important part of the government. It should highlight the mistakes made by the current government in various areas, and the government does everything to give the opposition few opportunities to speak out, which benefits them," said the MP.
Regarding the question of whether the government could choose someone else from within the Civil Contract as Prime Minister instead of Nikol Pashinyan, following the path proposed by the opposition, Aghazaryan stated: "Before the extraordinary parliamentary elections, the opposition had proposed Vazgen Manukyan as a candidate for Prime Minister, but then they retreated significantly and agreed that nothing should change as long as Pashinyan remains, but someone else from your side could be considered a progress. On the other hand, they well understand who Nikol Pashinyan is and what significance he holds for the team; their move is a manipulative step. I can consider the opposition's rallies as a confidence referendum; they saw that they lack widespread support within the public."
Aghazaryan also touched upon the negotiations, stating: "I am not satisfied with the negotiations; neither are Nikol Pashinyan, Aliyev, Macron, or Putin satisfied with the negotiations. No one is happy with the negotiations, but they are necessary. We managed to demonstrate to the world that Armenia-Azerbaijan relations should be separated from the Artsakh-Azerbaijan relations because the people of Artsakh have determined their self-determination, and as a state, we are obliged to do everything possible to support our compatriots."
