Turkish-Azerbaijani Tandem Prepares Ground for New Military Aggression: MP

Despite Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's readiness to do everything possible to sign a peace agreement by the end of the year, Azerbaijan continues to open fire on peaceful Armenian civilians who are merely engaged in agricultural work. This was stated by the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan, on her Facebook page.

She also mentioned: "And these individuals, including children, women, and the elderly, are targeted by Azerbaijani forces. Why? Because Azerbaijan seeks to gradually implement its genocidal policies endorsed at the level of the state leadership." Specifically, on November 5, Azerbaijani forces opened targeted fire on civilians engaged in agricultural work in the area of the village of Kharabakh in Artsakh, and on November 12, they did the same to civilians working in agriculture.

Azerbaijan continues to open fire towards Armenian positions along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and simultaneously spreads misinformation, accusing the Armenian side of allegedly firing at Azerbaijani positions.

It is important to note that as a result of Azerbaijan's absolutely unacceptable actions, there are civilian injuries, including A. Hairapetyan, who sustained bodily injuries, and P. Kh., who suffered a gunshot wound, as well as damages to agricultural equipment.

Azerbaijan's criminal conduct reflects an expression of ethnic hatred towards the Armenian people and blatantly violates the right of the peaceful population of Artsakh and Armenia to live, which is a gross violation of fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.

An analysis of the current situation and the modus operandi preceding Azerbaijan's acts of aggression gives grounds to sound the alarm that the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem is preparing the ground for new military aggression. Therefore, I have urgently reached out to my international counterparts to activate all possible legal and political mechanisms to condemn Azerbaijan's criminal behavior that violates the fundamental rights of the people of Artsakh and Armenia and to prevent new aggression against the peaceful Armenian population, who simply want to lead a safe and happy life in their homeland.
