Putin is Coming to Yerevan: What to Expect
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that next week, on November 22, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, is scheduled to visit Armenia, a strategic ally of Armenia.
Despite the government's efforts to present this visit as a testament to the friendship between Armenian and Russian elites, it should be noted that this visit will not be at a state level. On May 12 of this year, during a meeting in Dushanbe, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced that Putin would be visiting Armenia in November as part of a state visit.
However, on November 23, the Collective Security Council of the CSTO will hold its next meeting in Yerevan, which will also be attended by leaders of other member states of the organization. It is worth mentioning that the last time Putin visited Armenia was in 2019 during the EAEU summit, where former Iranian President Rouhani also participated.
According to some information, anti-Russian factions in Armenia, particularly the National Democratic Pole, are planning to organize protests in response to Putin's visit.
