Law Enforcement is Searching for Second Individual in the Aparan Shooting Case: What is Known

Law enforcement is currently searching for the second individual involved in the Aparan shooting, who has been placed under arrest and is a friend of Armen Hovhannisyan, who is charged with murder. This was reported by ArmLur.am.

It is recalled that the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper had previously reported that a new arrest is expected soon in connection with the Aparan shootings. As for who will be arrested, we are not disclosing this information at the moment to avoid compromising the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Investigative Committee of Armenia has questioned Grzo Asatryan, the brother of National Assembly deputy Matevos Asatryan, in connection with the Aparan shooting case, a fact that the Investigative Committee confirmed in response to our inquiry.

Currently, around 50 individuals have been interrogated within the criminal proceedings, and significant developments are expected soon.

To recall, on June 18, 2022, around 22:30, a 32-year-old resident of Yerevan, along with his brother, honked at a vehicle of "Infiniti" make while driving in Aparan city, maneuvered around it, and stopped the car. They then approached the driver to discuss the issue of driving, which was interrupted by a group of local residents. The conversation escalated into a dispute, which continued at the outskirts of Aparan city.

In order to continue the aforementioned conversation, the 32-year-old man, along with his brother and several others, went to a gas station in Aparan city the following day, June 19, and confronted one of the individuals who had interrupted their conversation the day before, beating him. The same discussion continued around 19:30 in an area adjacent to the landfill in Nikavan village, during which the 32-year-old man fired shots towards the individuals he was disputing with using a firearm he had with him.

As a result, two 27-year-old residents of Aparan, who were taken to the Aparan medical center with gunshot wounds, died in the hospital, while five others were hospitalized. The 32-year-old man has been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
