Russia Doubles Down on Military Efforts in Ukraine: Perspectives from the US
The United States is not pressuring Ukraine regarding negotiations with Russia. This was stated by Jake Sullivan, the National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, during a press briefing.
“First, Ukraine must decide when and how it wants to negotiate. Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine. We will not pressure them. Second, we believe in a just peace based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, which we did not fabricate; they are enshrined in the UN Charter,” the White House official said.
According to him, Russia is doubling down on its military efforts in Ukraine, which does not indicate readiness for negotiations. At the same time, Sullivan assured that Washington will continue to provide adequate military support to Kyiv to strengthen its positions both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.
Regarding the withdrawal of Russian forces from Kherson, Sullivan expressed that it was a strategically significant event.
