Details Emerge on the Bodies of a Mother and Her 8 and 12-Year-Old Children Found with Cutting and Stabbing Wounds

In the village of Pemzashen, part of the enlarged community of Artik in Shirak province, three bodies have been discovered in one of the houses: a mother and her two underage children. 

As reported by a correspondent from Sputnik Armenia, on November 9, at around 12:25 PM, the crisis management center of the Ministry of Emergencies received a call that an emergency medical team had been dispatched to a home in Pemzashen, where the residents were not responding to knocks at the door or phone calls. Upon arrival, firefighters and officers from the Artik police department opened the door and found three bodies on the floor.

The mayor of Artik, Ananik Voskanyan, reported that the deceased are 31-year-old Z. M. and her two children, a 12-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son. According to the community leader, it was a regular family that did not stand out in any way.

Shirak province prosecutor Gurgen Grigoryan stated in an interview with the media that the bodies bore cutting and stabbing wounds. “According to preliminary data, the murders occurred using a sharp cutting-stabbing tool. The same characteristics are present on all three bodies. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 155, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, and under Part 2, Subparagraph 5 of the same article, regarding murder and the murder of a minor, specifically concerning the two children,” the prosecutor noted, adding that operational investigative bodies are currently conducting active work at the scene.

According to their information, the father of the family had gone abroad for work. The mother worked at the Artik hospital, and according to preliminary information, staff members there became concerned when she did not report for work and tried to ascertain the reason from neighbors. Upon seeing that no one answered the door, they called 911.
