Weapons Purchased from Jordan Not Delivered, Armenia Demands Penalties

In the public procurement system of the Ministry of Finance, a statement from the Ministry of Defense has been published regarding the unilateral termination of the contract with a Jordanian arms manufacturing company. This was reported by Civilnet.am.

Attached to the statement is a letter signed by Deputy Minister of Defense Karen Brutyan, addressed to the company 'Jadara Equipment and Defense Systems,' stating that the company has failed to deliver the products stipulated in the contract signed on August 6, 2021, which were supposed to be manufactured in 2021.

On October 10 of this year, the Ministry of Defense unilaterally terminated the contract in its entirety and demands that the company transfer 23.2 million drams to Armenia as a penalty within five days of receiving notice.

The letter was published on the Gnumner.minfin.am website on October 12, 2022.

The company is best known for its short- and medium-range anti-tank systems, particularly for the production of the Russian RPG-32 hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, known in Jordan as 'Nashshab.' The components of the weapons were previously imported from Russia under a license. Over the years, a significant portion of the parts is now produced locally, but dependence on Russia continues to be decisive.

This grenade launcher is used by the Jordanian armed forces and has also been exported to Egypt, Iraq, the UAE, and Tunisia.
