Zakharova Discusses Communication with the U.S. on Prisoner Exchanges

Russia continues its communications with the United States regarding prisoner exchanges, with efforts being undertaken through special services, stated Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by RIA Novosti.

"The work is being carried out through the relevant law enforcement agencies and special services. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is conducting external interactions; however, unfortunately, for many months we have not seen a willingness from the U.S. to resolve specific issues," she stated during a live broadcast on Solovyov's program.

Zakharova emphasized that Moscow and Washington maintain "precise communications" on matters that create the necessity for them. "These communications have taken place across various contact agencies, as well as with different American entities. This, of course, does not relate to a full-fledged cooperation or interaction framework," she noted.

At the end of October, during a press briefing, Zakharova said that Moscow remains open to dialogue with Washington on de-escalation, maintaining strategic stability, and risk reduction measures, including the use of arms control tools.
