Russia Expects a Step Forward Towards a Peace Treaty from Tripartite Meeting
Russia expects that the upcoming tripartite meeting involving Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Sochi will allow progress towards signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko.
“There are still quite a few problems. I think that everyone will speak, including at the meeting in Sochi. We hope that it will allow some progress on a number of issues, including on the path to signing a peace treaty,” he said.
Earlier, during a Q&A session with the government, Nikol Pashinyan expressed his desire for a peace treaty with Azerbaijan to be signed by the end of this year.
It is worth noting that before the tripartite meeting, there will be a meeting between Pashinyan and Putin in Sochi. The agenda is still unknown.
It should be mentioned that the last meeting in the same format took place on November 26, 2021, in Sochi.
