We Are Hopeful That No Document Ignoring the Existence of the Artsakh Issue Will Be Signed at the Sochi Meeting
The Azerbaijani military-political leadership's claims are devoid of historical, legal, and moral foundations, as Artsakh has never been and cannot be part of Azerbaijan. This was stated today, October 30, during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh by the Parliament Speaker, Artur Tovmasyan.
“The youngest participant and the oldest participant of the rally to keep Artsakh Armenian, this rally is yours, and you are its organizer. If you are at home now, hurry to occupy a place in Renaissance Square, in your peaceful trench. I appeal to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the President of the United States Joe Biden, the President of France Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Raisi, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, and the Armenian people: this small geographical area poses no threat, but the right of the people of Artsakh to live fully and survive is at risk, so that Armenians from Artsakh can live and create in their homeland, recognize the right to self-determination of Artsakh,” said Tovmasyan.
According to Artur Tovmasyan, today more than ever, the Armenian people must act united and unified. “The claims of the Azerbaijani military-political leadership are devoid of historical, legal, and moral grounds, as Artsakh has never been and cannot be part of Azerbaijan. We are convinced that in order to confront geopolitical unpredictability and challenges, public unity and solidarity must be a primary and important factor. We will continue our efforts to protect the results of the Artsakh struggle for self-determination and security, and to achieve a resolution of the issue. We must stand firm on the anniversary of the declaration of the republic on September 2, 1991, the independence referendum on December 10, 1991, and the declaration on January 6, 1992. We are hopeful that at the Sochi trilateral meeting, no document will be signed that ignores the existence of the Artsakh issue, jeopardizing the prospect of its resolution and limiting the exercise of the self-determination right of the people of Artsakh. The path we have chosen is just and sanctified by the blood of our heroic martyrs. Artsakh has been, is, and will be,” declared Tovmasyan.
