Will the EU Observation Mission Be Extended? What Does Pashinyan Say
The commencement of the EU Civilian Observation Mission has been launched along the Armenia–Azerbaijan border. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a government meeting.
"You know that an appropriate agreement was reached in Prague during the quadrilateral meeting, and I would like to remark that our European Union partners have responded very promptly and made a decision; the preparatory group is already in Armenia, is already working, and the main team, consisting of 40 members, is expected to arrive in Armenia soon," Pashinyan said.
He noted that the observation mission is initially planned to operate for two months, but there are opinions in the expert field suggesting that this timeframe should be extended or that the observation mission should be made permanent. "I am not sure about this, but it’s a topic that is being discussed. If we see such an opportunity, we do not exclude the possibility of examining the issue more deeply," he added.
