US Warns of Sanctions Against Iran
The United States is prepared to work with its allies and implement restrictive measures to prevent Iran from transferring "dangerous weapons" to Russia, according to a statement from the US State Department.
"We are committed to working with our allies and partners to prevent the transfer of dangerous weapons to Russia. We will not hesitate to impose sanctions and other tools against all those involved in these supplies," officials from the State Department remarked, referring to claims about Iran’s alleged supply of drones to Russia, as reported by TASS.
The US Department of State also added that Washington "will continue to increase aid to Ukraine in security, including in air defense, so that Ukraine can defend itself against such weapons." Earlier, the UN Security Council held a closed meeting, where allegations were made about Iran supplying unmanned aerial vehicles to Russia.
In conversations with journalists, the first deputy of the Russian permanent representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, and the permanent representative of Iran to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, stated that both Moscow and Tehran categorically deny the accusations from Western countries.
