New EU Sanctions Against Iran to Come into Effect Today
The new EU sanctions against Iran, imposed due to the supply of Russian drones, will come into effect today, October 20. This was announced by the Czech representation in the EU, which currently holds the presidency.
“In a record time of three days of discussions, the permanent representatives of EU member states have agreed on sanctions against companies supplying Iranian drones. The written procedure has been completed, and the sanctions will enter into force today after publication in the official journal,” the Czech presidency stated in a Twitter message.
The EU Council also clarified that the sanctions will apply to three individuals and one organization. Additionally, restrictions will be expanded for four companies that were previously under European sanctions.
