Earthquake Felt in Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Ararat

An earthquake occurred 34 km southeast of the city of Khoi, Iran, with a magnitude of 7 on the epicenter scale. The tremors were felt at a magnitude of 4 in the Syunik province and 2-3 in Vayots Dzor and Ararat provinces.

On October 5, 2023, at 17:51 local time (13:51 GMT), the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations recorded an earthquake with the following geographic coordinates: 38.31° N latitude and 45.19° E longitude, 34 km southeast of Khoi, Iran, at a depth of 10 km and a magnitude of 5.1. The intensity of the tremors in the epicenter area was measured at 7 on the scale.
