Our Main Goal is to Open an Era of Peace in the Region: Pashinyan
Our main goal has been and remains to open an era of peace around Armenia and in the region. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a broadcast on Public Television.
“We have formulated this issue to implement it; we have not declared that, starting today, the era of peace has opened. We said that the challenge is to create that era. Whether I believe it or not, it is a mission that we must fulfill. Our commitment to that agenda has never wavered. On the other hand, we understand that it does not only depend on us. However, we cannot continuously argue that because it does not only depend on us, we have nothing to do. We must act in such a way that peace becomes a common interest for the region,” he said.
When asked if he believes that the agenda of opening an era of peace is viable, he responded, “Talking about peace does not mean declaring that peace has been established. Moreover, even if no shots are fired for one month, six months, or three years, that still does not mean there is peace. Peace is a very serious institutional phenomenon.
“Peace is a necessity, and we must pursue it,” he said.
