No Discussions on 'Extraterritorial Corridor' Possible, Overchuk on Armenia and Azerbaijan Unblocking Principles

During the trilateral working group negotiations of deputy prime ministers, there is no discussion and cannot be any mention of an "extraterritorial corridor" that would violate the sovereignty of either party. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk in an interview with RG.ru.

Thus, he outlined the principles that exist regarding unblocking between the two countries.

"It is important that a principle has been developed during the negotiations, which has served as the basis for approaches to the establishment of this regime. The principle is as follows: 'The sovereignty over the road is exercised by the country through which the road passes.' If the road passes through Armenian territory, then it is an Armenian road; if it passes through Azerbaijani territory, then it is an Azerbaijani road," Overchuk clarified.

Russia has always defended the principle of sovereignty of the parties and stands firmly on the positions of the leaders of the three countries in the statements made on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021.
