Russia has previously sold us weapons well and even given them for free: Movses Hakobyan
During today's government meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan is trying to prevent various countries, including our ally, from supplying weapons to Armenia. “They are trying to ensure that weapons and military equipment are not supplied to Armenia. We have cases where hundreds of millions of dollars have been paid, but the commitments for supplies to Armenia are not being fulfilled, including by allied countries,” Pashinyan declared.
In this context, 'Pastinfo' posed several questions to former Chief of the General Staff Movses Hakobyan.
Mr. Hakobyan, Nikol Pashinyan stated today at the government meeting that our ally, which is Russia, is not selling us weapons, hinting that it is under Azerbaijan's pressure. What do you think, why isn't our ally selling us weapons?
I don’t know, ask Pashinyan. They used to sell us quite well, with great pleasure, and even gave them for free, not just sold them.
So, is it an unfounded statement by Pashinyan?
I cannot say.
Mr. Hakobyan, suppose Russia is refusing to sell us weapons, why doesn’t Armenia turn to other countries, for example, Iran or France, to provide us with weapons?
Ask those who are dealing with that; I’m not involved, ask the buyers, I don’t participate in their discussions. Weapons are sold to those with whom they have relations, trust.
So, do these countries no longer trust Armenia?
I said they sell to those countries they trust.
Mr. Hakobyan, when we announce to the whole world, in front of our enemy who constantly awaits a new attack, that we have an armament problem, is this not dangerous?
Don’t ask me such questions; you know the answer, even a fourth-grade student knows that.
