Azerbaijan Captured Several Combat Positions in the Vardenis Direction, the Largest Territorial Losses are in Jermuk: Deputy Chief of the General Staff
As a result of the Azerbaijani provocation on September 13, the enemy managed to capture several combat positions in the Vardenis direction. While these positions are not crucial from a tactical perspective, they are significant strategically.
Major General Arakel Martikyan, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, made this statement to foreign diplomats in Vardenis when asked about the losses in that area.
Martikyan noted that the largest territorial losses occurred in the Jermuk region. “We cannot say that they have made serious territorial advancements here; they have managed to capture a few combat positions. However, those positions are not that important from a tactical viewpoint; they are strategically important as they directly affect our settlements and allow for some control over our roads and routes. Moreover, most importantly, their presence psychologically and morally pressures the residents of nearby villages,” said the Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
