What Will Happen to the Jobs of Mobilized Citizens? The State Duma Approves a Bill

The State Duma has approved a bill on employment guarantees for citizens called up for military service in its second and third readings. Following their discharge from service, soldiers can return to the same organization and position they previously held.

Suspension of Employment Contracts
During service, the employment contract is not terminated but suspended. Employers have the right to terminate the contract if an employee does not return to work within three months after discharge.

The effectiveness of the employment contract resumes on the day the mobilized employee is discharged and returns to work; they must inform their employer of their return within three working days.

Payments, Leave, and Work Experience
Before the suspension of the contract, the employer is obliged to pay the mobilized employee their full salary and any dues for the preceding period. Upon returning to work, the mobilized employee is entitled to annual paid leave within six months, at a time convenient for them.

Both work experience and professional experience are calculated even after the suspension of the employment contract, meaning that it continues during military service.

On September 21, Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization in Russia. According to Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, this measure is necessary for controlling the thousand-kilometer frontline and liberated territories. The partial mobilization plans to call up to 300,000 reservists in total.
