Recruitment Point to Be Established at the 'Upper Lars' Checkpoint

Citizens will be allowed to cross the 'Upper Lars' checkpoint on foot. This decision was made by Andrey Sergeyev, the Minister of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia-Alania, and Lieutenant General of Police, during an off-site meeting at the 'Upper Lars' checkpoint.

Participants in the meeting noted that there has been an increase in the flow of light passenger vehicles traveling from Russia to Georgia. Despite measures being taken, the situation at the border remains extremely difficult. Additional measures are necessary to ensure the safety of citizens. Reports Sputnik Armenia.

During the consultation, it was also decided to establish a recruitment point at the checkpoint to mitigate the risks of unlawful behavior and conflicts.

It is worth noting that yesterday there were reports of around 3,500 vehicles accumulating at the 'Upper Lars' checkpoint. Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia urged citizens to refrain from traveling to Georgia through the 'Upper Lars' checkpoint.

According to authorities, last week 37,500 vehicles and more than 115,000 people crossed the state border at the 'Upper Lars' checkpoint, which is 23.3 percent higher than the figures of the previous week.
