The West Will Not Accept Russia's Dictated Peace, No Show Referendums: Scholz
The West will not accept Russia's dictated peace, stated German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as reported by interfax.com.ua.
“If we want this war to end, we cannot be indifferent to how it ends. Putin will only abandon his war and imperialist ambitions if he realizes that he cannot win. Moreover, he is not only destroying Ukraine but also his own country. That is why we will not accept Russia's dictated peace. We will not accept any show referendum. And that is why Ukraine must be able to defend itself against the Russian invasion,” Scholz said in a speech at the UN General Assembly in New York.
He emphasized that Germany supports Ukraine with all its strength—financially, economically, with humanitarian aid, as well as arms. Germany has imposed tough economic sanctions on the Russian leadership and the Russian economy in coordination with partners around the world, Scholz added.
“There is no minimum justification for Russia's occupation war against Ukraine. President Putin conducts this war solely with the aim of conquering Ukraine. Self-determination and political independence are not in his account. And there is only one word for that—imperialism. It couldn't be clearer,” Scholz emphasized.
