Georgia Ready to Act as Mediator for Armenian-Azerbaijani Conflict Resolution, Says Foreign Minister
Georgia is still ready to act as a mediator in the resolution of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with Tbilisi offering to serve as a platform for negotiations. According to Armenpress, citing TASS, this was stated by Georgia's Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.
The head of Georgia's foreign policy agency is currently in New York as part of the official delegation led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
"If necessary for our country to be involved in the process as a mediator, we are always ready," Darchiashvili said.
He added that Georgia has no preconditions in this regard. The main objective of Tbilisi is peace and stability in the region.
The foreign minister recalled that due to the efforts of the Georgian Prime Minister, Azerbaijan handed over 15 servicemen to Armenia in June 2021, while Yerevan sent maps of minefields to Baku.
Another example of Georgia's mediation was the meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, which took place on July 16 in Tbilisi.
