Expectations from CSTO Not Met, We Are Very Dissatisfied, We Will Draw Conclusions: Alen Simonyan
We are very dissatisfied, the expectations that we had from the CSTO are not being met. We will not be able to explain to our citizens for long why the CSTO is not doing what is required, stated National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan on Public TV.
“We will draw conclusions from this, we are already doing so and have done so. Now we are waiting, imagine we have a gun that does not fire, but we can hit or show that we have a gun. Today is not the right time to make drastic moves,” said Simonyan.
Alen Simonyan also emphasized that we have a mutual assistance agreement with the Russian Federation and expect much more tangible actions from our Russian partners, rather than just statements and fragmented, unfinished words.
“I am surprised and express my disagreement that their public television shows reports where provocative statements are directed at the leadership of the Republic of Armenia,” noted the NA President.
Reflecting on the statement by Maria Zakharova, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alen Simonyan posed a rhetorical question: “Why is this situation, who guarantees that this situation will not exist again? If the situation in Ukraine is bad, let us know that you understand, but we cannot handle this situation. But to leave us in this situation, that is not fair. We do not have the resources; we are a small country of 3 million, while Russia is very large, and every meter for us has the highest price in blood and history.”
