Video: Fire Near Ijevan City. Firefighters Have Been Battling the Blaze for 5 Days
A fire that broke out near Ijevan city has been ongoing for the 5th day, with firefighters struggling to extinguish it completely. Work, which was interrupted yesterday, has resumed early this morning, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. A total of 80 firefighters are currently involved.
Currently, approximately 5-6 hectares of grassy area have been burned. The fire ignited on August 31. Recall that on August 31, at 1:25 PM, a report was received at the Tavush regional crisis management center indicating that grass was burning near the wine factory in Ijevan city.
Three fire and rescue units were dispatched from the regional emergency rescue department to the scene. It was found that about 5-6 hectares of grassland were burning. Of the four directions of the fire, three have been contained, while there are still three smoldering hotspots in the fourth direction. A duty roster has been established by 13 fire and rescue personnel.
