Body of 27-Year-Old Indian Citizen Found on Sofa in Bloodied Condition
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has uncovered a murder case involving a citizen of India.
A report regarding the presence of a man's body in a stone production area on David Bek Street in Yerevan was received on August 28, 2022, at 09:40.
An investigative-operational group that immediately headed to the scene found the body of a 27-year-old Indian citizen on a sofa, covered in blood, with injuries to the head and face, as well as a metal rod with blood-like traces.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under part 1 of article 155 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
As a result of procedural and investigative actions, as well as operational-intelligence measures, several circumstances surrounding the case were clarified, including the motive and the identity of the alleged perpetrator, who is a 45-year-old citizen of India.
Specifically, the investigation revealed that around 02:00 on August 28, 2022, a dispute occurred between the victim and his 45-year-old acquaintance over personal matters at 54/11 David Bek Street in Yerevan, during which the latter struck the 27-year-old in the face several times with a metal rod, resulting in the victim's death from the injuries sustained.
Based on reasonable grounds that the crime was committed, the 45-year-old Indian citizen has been arrested and has provided a confession. Forensic medical and biological examinations have been appointed.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
