VIDEO: Various Sizes and Weights of Diamonds and Unreported $40,900 Discovered
The State Revenue Committee's Anti-Smuggling Department continuously monitors the cases of transporting precious stones across the borders of the Republic of Armenia and continues its efforts to combat the transportation of unreported cash across the state border. This was reported by the Public Relations and Information Department of the SRC.
Recently, officers from the SRC's Anti-Smuggling Department in the Zvartnots Division, in collaboration with employees of the Western Customs Department, conducted a customs inspection of A citizen arriving on a Dubai-Yerevan flight, who had chosen the 'green corridor' customs control procedure. As a result of the customs inspection, $40,900 in unreported cash was discovered, while personal searches uncovered unreported diamonds of various sizes and weights. According to the data on the packaging and existing certificates, the total weight of the diamonds in question exceeds 70 carats.
Based on the discovery of unreported cash, materials have been prepared by officers of the Anti-Smuggling Department indicating the characteristics of a crime provided for in Article 291 of the RA Criminal Code, which have been submitted to the SRC's Investigation Department. Additionally, regarding the discovery of hidden diamonds from customs control, separate materials have been prepared with indications of violations of Article 203 of the Customs Code, which have been forwarded to the SRC's Legal Department.
