The Situation in Artsakh Discussed Between Azerbaijan and EU Special Representative
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Special Representative of the European Union for the South Caucasus, Toivo Klaar, held a phone conversation on August 3, reported the Azerbaijani MFA.
According to the statement, the parties discussed the current situation and tensions in the region, which have arisen in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh.
Bayramov informed the EU special representative that Armenia has allegedly been violating the tripartite agreements in recent days and has carried out "provocations" (quotation marks - Tert.am) in the border areas of the two countries and in the territory of Artsakh.
According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, the country’s armed forces are taking “adequate response measures” (quotation marks - Tert.am) to “military provocations” (quotation marks - Tert.am) in “their sovereign territory.”
It is noteworthy that, starting from 09:00 today, Azerbaijani units have targeted the positions of the Artsakh Defense Army and a permanent deployment site of one of its military units using various caliber firearms, mortars, grenade launchers, and striking UAVs.
