«I Have Nothing to Say to Them» - Movses Hakobyan on the Inquiry Committee Investigating the 44-Day War

Former Chief of the General Staff of Armenia, former head of the Defense Ministry's Military Inspectorate, Lieutenant General Movses Hakobyan has stated that he will not appear before the inquiry committee investigating the 44-day war if invited. "I have nothing to say to them," Hakobyan told Iravunk.

— Representatives of the government have announced that individuals who refuse to appear before the committee will face legal ramifications.

— It’s better for me to go stand trial than to answer the questions of the committee’s members. I know what war is and what is needed to investigate it. And the contingent that has gathered there is very far from addressing and understanding such serious issues. For example, who will investigate the actions of the Chief of Staff? Who understands his powers? That group isn’t even capable of investigating the actions of a squad commander. What are we talking about?

— What do you think about the new Chief of Staff?

— He is a competent officer and needs to work hard to get the system back on its feet.

— What about Suren Papikyan’s tenure? You mentioned that he is the most adequate person on this team.

— I still hold the same opinion; he is the most adequate person in the ruling force, and we should be satisfied with that.
