Kosovo Prime Minister Announces Installation of Barricades
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has announced that 9 barricades have been installed in the northern regions of Kosovo and Metohija. Pristina expects that all of them will be removed in the near future, TASS reports.
Additionally, he blamed Serbian citizens who took to the streets before the protests for shooting at police and engaging in aggression.
Meanwhile, Serbia's Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic stated that the situation in Kosovo has calmed down over the past 24 hours, but remains extremely fragile. “Compared to yesterday, the situation seems a bit quieter than before, but it continues to remain very, very fragile,” he said.
On Sunday evening and Monday night, unrest occurred in northern Kosovo related to Pristina's entry ban on Serbian plates and documents. The ban was supposed to come into effect on August 1. Authorities of the self-proclaimed republic postponed the entry ban on Serbian plates and documents for a month following a call from the United States.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Monday evening that he expects a de-escalation of tensions in Kosovo.
