VIDEO: Floods in China Affecting Hundreds of Thousands

Heavy rains and subsequent floods in China's northeastern Liaoning province have impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands, reports Xinhua News Agency, citing local authorities.

Nearly 1,600 hectares of cultivated land have also been affected, according to the Regional Flood and Drought Control Headquarters. The direct economic damage has exceeded approximately $1.9 million.

Water levels in 13 medium and 17 small reservoirs in Liaoning province have surpassed critical levels. Due to the torrential rains that have fallen from Thursday to Saturday, nearly 80,000 people have been evacuated from the area.
