Video: Exclusive Footage of the Explosion at Surmalu
AntiFake.am has released new exclusive footage of the devastating explosion that occurred at the Surmalu shopping center on August 14. The report states that the video corroborates that the explosion took place in the lower section of the building.
“Media have already reported on which areas of the shopping center housed a large quantity of fireworks. It has been noted that a depot for fireworks was located on the upper floors of the exploded building. However, as seen in the footage, the epicenter of the explosion is in the lower levels of the building. The operators on the upper floors of the damaged shopping center also state that there was not a sufficient quantity of fireworks to cause such a tragedy.
Furthermore, experts indicate that even if several tons of additional fireworks had been present in the building, they could not have led to an explosion of such magnitude. Everyone has seen the strength of the blast and its consequences.
It should also be noted that no official clear explanation regarding the incident has yet been provided, but authorities persistently deny the terrorism hypothesis. The highest-ranking official has publicly asserted that “it is evident from the footage that there is no logic of a terrorist act, as we see that there is smoke, fleeing people, and then the explosion follows.”
As has been the case with other controversial incidents in the past, the Armenian authorities have, through their hasty conclusions and unprofessional behavior, hindered the prospects for a professional investigation of the case. Whether the explosion was indeed accidental will become clear only if the investigating body is free from external influences and bases its work on existing factual circumstances instead of conjectures,” the report states.
