My statement does not mean we will stop boycotting the National Assembly's work: Sagatelyan
I have said that if the opposition goes to the parliament, it will do so exclusively with its agenda; nothing has changed in our approaches. This was stated by Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a member of the National Assembly's 'Armenia' faction, in an interview with NEWS.am, referring to his controversial statement that the opposition would return to the National Assembly in September with its own agenda.
'Our agenda is very clear; it is the security of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. We are not going to work in the parliament under any other agenda. It is evident that there is a parliamentary crisis. We will not avoid returning to the parliament when necessary, just like on June 3, when we went to the parliament with our agenda while the political majority was absent. We are not constrained in any way; whenever we find it expedient to go to parliament with our established agenda, we will go, but that does not imply that we have decided to stop boycotting the work of the National Assembly and that we will return to the parliament,' Sagatelyan said, adding that all their initiatives have been rejected by the political majority.
He emphasized that the demand to boycott the work of the National Assembly has been shaped by their voters: 'What they say is that the voters have given you a mandate to go and work; the voters have given us an agenda—the ‘Armenia’ and ‘I Have Honor’ alliances went to the elections with a clear roadmap to remove this government and to build a strong and secure Armenia. We are obligated to serve that agenda, whether inside or outside the National Assembly,' Sagatelyan stated.
