VIDEO: 19-Year-Old Approaches Foreigners in Yerevan, Extorts Money at Gunpoint

The police reported that on the night of July 21, a foreign citizen submitted a complaint at the Central Police Department, stating that while walking with his girlfriend on Vazgen Sargsyan Street, an unknown person approached them, brandished an object resembling a weapon, and demanded money. The victim handed over his wallet, after which the assailant took the cash and discarded the wallet before fleeing.

“As a result of measures taken by the Criminal Police, the identity of the suspect involved in the robbery was established. A 19-year-old resident of the Armavir region was located. He was arrested on July 21 on Artashisyan Street in Yerevan and presented to the investigative authority, where a criminal case was initiated. It was also revealed that the 19-year-old had committed a similar robbery on the night of July 20, stealing varying amounts of money from two individuals on Abovyan Street, leading to another criminal case initiation. The weapon used in the crime and a portion of the stolen money have been recovered. The circumstances are being investigated,” the statement said.
