VIDEO: How a Youth Was Hit and Thrown to the Ground. The CEO of 'Pyunik' Has Apologized
After the second round qualifying match of the Champions League between 'Pyunik' and 'Dudelange', as we reported, a large number of young fans stormed the field, violating order and creating a chaotic situation. As a result, the nerves of the 'Pyunik' staff and security personnel frayed, and tensions escalated.
The CEO of 'Pyunik', Kim Arakelyan, made a post on his Facebook page, apologizing to one of the fans he struck, as well as to everyone associated with the club and residents of Pyunik.
“Dear fans, I would like to express my apologies for the incident that occurred after the home match against Dudelange. My colleagues who organize international matches will understand very well that these games carry great responsibility, and any violation can lead to serious consequences for the club, including disqualification of the entire team and restrictions on participation in European competitions. However, I fully acknowledge and take responsibility for what happened. As someone devoted to the Pyunik football club and our country, I was unable to respond appropriately and allowed my emotions to control me. I apologize to everyone associated with the club and the people of Pyunik, as this club is a symbol of victories, history, and respect. Lastly, I kindly ask for the contact details of the child's parents, so I can reach out to them personally and apologize to the parents and the child for the incident,” wrote Kim Arakelyan.
It is noteworthy that Kim Arakelyan is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Football Federation of Armenia. In the end, the match concluded with a score of 4-3 in favor of the Romanian team 'Cluj' after post-match penalties. The main and extra time ended in a draw at 2-2.
