It is Known What the Crashed An-12 in Greece Was Transporting
On Sunday night, the Ukrainian An-12 aircraft that crashed in Greece was transporting 11.5 tons of defensive cargo from Serbia to Bangladesh, reported Serbian Defense Minister Nebojša Stefanović.
As previously reported by Greek television, the aircraft crashed on Saturday evening around 22:45. Before the accident, the pilot reported an engine malfunction and made an emergency landing at Kavala Airport.
According to eyewitnesses, the burning aircraft fell into a cornfield between the villages of Antifilippi and Paleochori, a few kilometers from the airport. There were eight crew members on board.
“The aircraft that crashed in Greece last night, the An-12, was transporting 11.5 tons of products from our defense industry to Bangladesh. Unfortunately, all eight crew members perished,” said Stefanović during a briefing at the Serbian Ministry of Defense on Sunday morning.
