Emergency Incident in Aragatsotn Province: Man Armed with Grenade Enters Supermarket

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, an extraordinary incident occurred on July 16 in Aragatsotn province.

At approximately 21:50, the police department in Ashtarak received a report that a man, armed with a combat grenade, had entered the well-known "Apricot" supermarket in the city of Ashtarak and was threatening to detonate the grenade near the entrance.

Photographer Gagik Shamshyan reports that the head of the Aragatsotn regional police, Tigran Karapetyan, and the head of the Ashtarak police department, Sergey Martirosyan, arrived on the scene promptly.

Officers from the community department of the Ashtarak police cordoned off the area for the safety of citizens, while negotiations commenced with the man under the direction of the regional police chief.

After some time, the man was taken with the combat grenade to the Ashtarak police station, but the grenade's ring was still not neutralized. He made demands, stating, "If I don't see my children, I will use the grenade."

According to G. Shamshyan, the man, who is divorced, is requesting permission from his ex-wife to meet with his children.
