Major Car Accident in Gegharkunik Province: Vehicle Overturned in Ravine, Injuries Reported

Today, on July 14, a major car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik Province. Around 11:00 AM, a Ford Transit vehicle veered off the roadway in the 46 km section of the Sevan-Martuni-Geghamasar highway under still unidentified circumstances, collided with metal barriers, broke them, and rolled approximately 80 meters, ending up overturned in a ravine.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver was initially assisted by bystanders and promptly taken to 'Gavar' Medical Center by firefighters from the Gavar Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The accident information was communicated by the responsible duty officer Yervand Aleksanyan to the Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, from where an investigative team led by Armen Hovhannisyan arrived. A criminal case has been initiated by A. Hovhannisyan regarding the accident.

A rapid response team from the Gavar Division of Police, headed by Chief Petrosyan, also promptly arrived at the scene. The police and the investigative department are currently working to identify the driver and the injured party.
