Anomalously High Thermal Background Expected in Artsakh

The State Service for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring of the Republic of Artsakh reports that in the coming days, an anomalously high thermal background is expected in the valley and pre-mountainous areas of the republic. During the daytime, the air temperature is expected to reach between +36 and +40 degrees.

Alongside the rise in temperature, a high fire hazard situation is also anticipated. The following safety rules should be remembered:

  1. Do not throw away burning matches or cigarette butts.
  2. Do not burn dry grass and household waste.
  3. Do not light bonfires; if absolutely necessary, they should be made in open areas surrounded by a moist layer of soil of at least 0.5 meters, and should be extinguished with water or covered with soil afterwards.
  4. Do not leave bottles or glass pieces in open areas as they can act as burning lenses.
  5. Avoid driving vehicles with faulty fuel systems in forested areas.
  6. Do not leave or discard cloths soaked with oil, gasoline, kerosene, and other flammable liquids outside of designated areas.

The State Emergency Service of Artsakh urges everyone to adhere strictly to fire safety regulations. According to the law on “Atmospheric Air Protection” in Artsakh, it is prohibited to burn fallen leaves, areas with plant residues and dry plants, as well as the vegetation of pastures and hayfields in agricultural, forested, and specially protected natural areas.

It is also forbidden to burn household and industrial waste, as well as debris, in the natural environment, near residential areas, and in boilers, stoves, and other devices that are not intended for such burning.
