600 People Have Died Due to Heatwaves in Europe

In Spain, heatwaves that have lasted nearly a week have resulted in the deaths of 360 people, while in Portugal, local authorities report 238 deaths, according to Meduza.

The temperature in Spain has reached 45.7 degrees Celsius. In neighboring Portugal, temperatures have persisted at around 40 degrees for several days. The Portuguese Ministry of Health has announced that from July 7 to 13, 238 people, mostly elderly, have died due to the extreme heat.

In the UK, a maximum red alert has been declared for residents for the first time on July 15. Forecasts indicate that on July 18 and 19, temperatures in the region covering London, Manchester, and York could rise to 40 degrees, according to BBC News.
